The purpose of EV Purchase Calculator is to assist you in developing a budget and understand the numbers in your purchasing journey. This tool will help you identify your monthly payment, taxes, registration fees, and incorporate any financial incentives (grants and rebates) you may be eligible for to find the net cost of your EV. Step by Step Instructions
Start by completing the questions on the left-hand side of the calculator: Vehicle Type, Payment Information, Loan Info, and Purchase Cost.
Next, click on the “i” icon under the “Fee Calculator” button. This will take you to the DMV site which will help you calculate the taxes and registration fees for the vehicle you are looking into. Copy and paste the final number back to the calculator under the section “Total Fees and Taxes”.
Grants and Rebates
If you have received or are eligible for any grants or federal tax credit, select the check box next to the name of the incentive. The amount of this incentive will be calculated as a down payment since it will be discounted at the time of purchase.
If you are eligible for any rebates after purchase, check the box of those you will be eligible for. Click on the amount dropdown to select the amount you’re eligible for. This is dependent on your income. If you have any questions, reach out to your advisor for clarification or click on the “i” button and it will take you directly to the incentive website for more information.
Cost Breakdown
Once you have entered all the information on the left-hand side, the Monthly Payment box will turn green if the cost of the vehicle matches your desired monthly payment. If the monthly payment exceeds your desired monthly payment, the box will turn red.
